What makes a human face truely beautiful is SYMMETRY

In nature symmetry is perceived as being Beautiful. As we age the different sides of our faces age at different rates. Sun damage takes a larger tole on the driving side. Chewing strongly on one side of the mouth changes the muscle and bone structure on that side of the mouth. Sleeping preferably on one side also causes more laxity and damage. All of these changes together with the aging process of the skin and Collagen leads to irregular sagging and asymmetry.

Here is an example of laser and filler and non surgical face and neck lift. Please see us for a complimentary appointment www.foreveryoung.net 323 653 7700

A Surgeon with a trained eye can tighten and lift the skin and restore symmetry. This can be done with or without cutting Surgery. #foreveryoung #laser #ulthera #thermage #mixto #co2laser #wow

What causes Post Inflamatory Hyper-pigmentation (PIH) and how to treat it

OK; this morning I want to talk to you about a condition called “post inflammatory hyperpigmentation” (PIH)
Our bodies are basically over 3 billion years old and have developed various mechanisms to protect themselves against the outside environment. If you have darker skin complexion you are much more likely to develop brown spots and hyperpigmentation after any kind of trauma such as acne, picking, burning, or just scratching the skin. This dark pigmentation can also occur with various lasers and Micro needling or even after sunburn, allergies, or chemical peels. The skin is simply protecting itself against the trauma by becoming darker.

Treating these dark spots is quite challenging. Without treatment they may go away after a few weeks or it may take many months for them to gradually disappear.

Too aggressive treatments can actually exacerbate the problem and cause more brown spots. Treatment: We start conservative by applying topical fading lotions, prescription grade vitamin A cream, Vitamin C cream and glycolic and kojic acid. If this doesn’t work we do light chemical peels and Microderm abrasion‘s.

Ultimately light laser treatments that are specifically geared towards removing pigmentation such as clear and brilliant laser and mixto fractional CO2 resurfacing can be used to even the skin complexion.

It is also important to break the cycle and prevent new brown spots from occurring while you are getting rid of the old spots.

See your dermatologist and allow him or her to put a program together for you to remove these brown spots and make 2019 a year with a perfect clear complexion.

Does your Laser Surgeon perform a test spot before a procedure? Is it needed?

About half of my patients have sensitive or ethnic skin. Patients with darker skin color (Asians, Hispanics, African Americans, Middle Eastern skin) have a much higher tendency to develop keloids, unsightly scars, discolorations, and abnormal prolonged healing and redness. One thing I’ve learned during my  20 years in private practice is that performing a test spot behind the ear significantly improves the chances of the treatment working and the patient being happy. Observing a test spot heal helps in determining the laser parameters and reduces the risk of unsightly scars and discolorations. It also allows the patient to get a sense of the healing process and become mentally ready. After the test spot a few patients decide not to have the procedure done.  Test spots are not always required but a good idea if you have sensitive skin or thick keloids or hypertrophic scars elsewhere on your body.
Performing test spots also allows me to find out if the patient is compliant and can follow post operative instructions.
Ask your Dermatologist or Plastic Surgeon to perform a test spot before any major facial laser procedures.
