The Day of Surgery

Food and Drink

Do not eat or drink after 12:00 p.m. (midnight) if the surgery is scheduled before 1:00 p.m. the next day. If the surgery is after 1:00 p.m., you may have 1 cup of tea and 1 piece of dry toast before 8:00 a.m. Do not eat or drink anything during the 5 hours before surgery.

Shower

Repeat the shower and wash your hair with Antibacterial Scrub.

Dress and Make-up

Do not wear make-up. Do not wear jewelry. Take off your necklaces, earrings, and watch. Wear loose fitting clothes that do not go over the head. Choose clothing that buttons or zips in front. Remove contact lenses, even if they are “extended wear” lenses.

Arrival at the Center

Please be in the office 30 minutes before your scheduled surgery. If your surgery is after 10:00 a.m., please call the office before you leave home to confirm your arrival time.

Transportation Home

The surgery will last for two to four hours and you will be in recovery for about 45 minutes. The office will not allow you to leave in your car or taxi unaccompanied by an adult. Please give us the telephone number of your ride before surgery.
