What is it?
Manual Epidermal Dermabrasion (MED) is a painless procedure combining physical exfoliation with chemical methods. It promotes collagen production without damaging your skin's elasticity and, most importantly, without causing pain or requiring downtime. Dr. Rahimi learned this procedure in 2002 from its developer, Dr Theodore Sutnick, and has been performing it ever since.
What happens?
The MED treatment takes between 30 and 45 minutes, and begins with a very detailed superficial skin exfoliation using a scalpel, removing the 'dead' layer of skin. This part is done very gently and leaves no visible marks. Using a compressor, tiny benign cysts under the skin and superficial rough spots are then extracted, leaving the skin smooth. In the final part of the treatment, carbon dioxide and acetone are applied to the skin, causing immediate refinement and tightening of the skin. New collagen synthesis will begin right away and will continue in the following weeks.
What results can I expect from the MED treatment?
Your face will appear more youthful, with a significant diminishing of fine lines, wrinkles, traces of acne, and pigmentation. Your skin color will appear fresher and more luminous. We can also combine this procedure with Botox, Restylane, Perlane, or Hyaline to further improve your appearance.
To achieve consistent and long-lasting results, we recommend MED treatments every two to three months. It is safe and appropriate for any skin type, and as it is so beneficial to the skin it can be performed for many years to maintain your flawless complexion. Individual results may vary, consult your doctor to make sure you are a good candidate.
